“To unleash creativity you must be willing to Re-Align to Thrive™”
Creativity is not a skill, it is your birthright. Every innovation, everything that has ever been created, every book, every song, every invention, began with an imagination, a longing for self-expression, a creative spark, a risk, a willingness to put forward a unique style. Everything was birthed from the creative genius where there were no assurances that success would follow but a willingness and faith in one’s own deep and vibrant nature. YOU were born a creative engineer however, along your pathway of life, creativity may have been stripped for several reasons.
1.Creativity requires a willingness of self-expression. Self-expression is the outcome of a healthy second Chakra, known as the Sacral Chakra (chakras are energy centres in the body linked to our health and vitality). This chakra, located below the navel, governs your emotions, creativity, abundance, and self-expression and develops, primarily, before the age of 2. It requires an environment where self -expression is welcomed. At that age, authentic communication includes conveying the big feels, saying no, knowing that whatever is being experienced in the body is a normal expression of being a 2-year-old. If your authentic expressions (saying no or tantruming) was denied or made wrong, it would be natural that you would to turn this part of yourself off. When this is your biography, you will learn to turn away from your creative urges. And the lack of self expression will result not only in lack of creativity but lack of abundance in all areas of your life (things that make you go Hummmm).
2.Creativity requires courage, a willingness to fail and access to your genius brain. Often, an inspired creative flash will activate a little stress in your body which is good stress… it creates an excitement. But most of society is in heightened stress levels all day which activates the survival brain and interferes with our ability to access the pre-frontal cortex which is the generator of creativity. Then, we sit down to write, to complete projects, to create, and are faced with an empty mind. Or we share our ideas and those ideas fail so we walk away from future endeavours. Instead of understanding that failure is simply part of success, many people will give up and shut down to future creative undertakings and turn to lives of mediocrity.
3.Mediocrity has become the default in our society which is denying your spirit of its own unique expression of style. Remember, self-expression is essential for creativity to flow and, when we deny this, we begin to accept our lives as simply OK, instead of creating the life that we were meant to live. To fully step into your spirit’s style requires self- expression, courage, and a willingness to see beyond the limited beliefs of your mind. So go out and live your life in style. Wear the unconventional clothes, dance in the street, take out your art material and channel your inner Picasso. Begin to reveal your one-of-a-kind style. Over time, you will begin to disentangle the crossed wires in your neuroanatomy that tell you to live small, conventional, and on a mediocre path and you will unleash your unique spirit.
Here are 3 steps to help you Re-Align to Thrive™ on your creative journey:
1.Begin to practice somatic tracking, that is, tune into the sensations of your body. This will allow you to check in, how are you doing? What messages is your body telling you in this moment. If you are feeling stressed, what does stress feel like in your body?
2.Begin your day with 10 deep breaths, exhale through your mouth with a gentle sigh. Then, repeat throughout the day when you are needing to access your creative genius, especially before a project, writing task, teaching opportunity etc.
3.Remember that you were not created for mediocrity, you were created to shine your style. Place one hand on your heart right now and say aloud: “I commit to showing the world that I am a one-of-a-kind, limited edition and my style is THE style that I was created to express.” Feel your life force in this moment and know, that feeling is your creative Self in motion.
